In 2016, the SRC ran a campaign to stop staff cuts throughout the University. Particularly, the student newspaper's staff support was being threatened. The SRC's campaign was successful and staff support for the student newspaper was reinstated. Check out part of the campaign below.

Students have come together to fight the University's far reaching cuts. A failure of management to address student attrition (students leaving WSU for other unis) and a shortfall in enrolments means the executive is in crisis mode and has placed a freeze on staffing. Instead of addressing the problems, they are cutting staff numbers and axing support for crucial services.
The SRC and the student editors of W'SUP have launched a campaign in response. We're taking the uni's 're-bland' and making it our own to stand up for what we believe in.
